The past year I’ve been working more than full time for HB. On the side I teach piano, and also do more installations. In addition I perform at gigs very often.
I’ve worked on installations throughout the northeast. Clients include: Mass Mutual, Liberty Mutual, Harvard, Boston University, Vertex Pharm, TD Garden, Northeastern University TJX, Augusta, ME Law, Larcom theatre, Waltham Cable Access, Mansfield Cable Access.
A professional audio / video engineer for 9 years, I’ve designed and engineered numerous whole-facility audiovisual systems. I’ve worked in the Pentagon configuring videoconferencing systems. I’ve worked in areas as far away as Monterey, Mexico, and Lassen Volcanic National Park in northern California. The customers I’ve worked with include Johns Hopkins University, the National Parks Service, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the International Monetary Fund.
I left full-time employment to deepen my knowledge of how business works by pursuing a Master’s degree in Engineering Management at the University of Colorado. When I graduate in May of 2017, I will leave with a much stronger understanding of how business strategy is developed and deployed, as well as having learned a lot about leadership.
My primary job is an installer of AV equipment. We are based out of CT, but I have installed systems in CT, NY, MA, D.C, and other areas. I design audio profiles for the audio devices we use and tune the audio in the systems we install.
On the side I am a trombone performer, as well as a recording engineer.
I have produced 2 full albums, one an acoustic album, the other a variety of choral and ensemble mixes.
I did a research project at UML studying various microphone, microphone placement, and room setup in 114 with a brass quintet.
After graduating, I completed an internship at a post-production studio in Burbank, CA. There I learned that this wasn’t really the direction I wanted to go in. I am now living in MA and working as an AV tech. I enjoy the more active, hands-on type work involved in installs, and am starting to get into some programming as well.
I have worked in lots of schools including Harvard and MIT, as well as several office buildings and a few hospitals. The biggest project I’ve done so far was an install at a newly constructed office building for Keurig in Burlington, MA. The building has 6 floors with roughly 75 conference rooms, 10 video conference rooms, a cafeteria that doubled as an auditorium and even a gym that had TVs, sound systems, a projector and cable hookups for exercise equipment. This project took about 3 months to complete.
After leaving UML I worked for comedian Jonathan Katz as his personal assistant / audio guy. I redesigned his home studio and did a bunch of different production type things. Then I became the tracking engineer and online marketer (what?) for the web series Explosion Bus which can be found on YouTube (I only worked on the 2nd season, which has different animation).
Since then I’ve moved to LA where I work for Wilo Productions, which is technically just Loren Bouchard. I work on various things for Bob’s Burgers and have no official title as there was technically no open position when I came here. I’m not supposed to talk about what goes on here, lives are at stake.

I am currently installing the new studio facilities at 160 Mass Ave at Berklee. I have been designing and helping to build listening and recording rooms. Acoustic testing and measurement and then recommendations for treatments.
I was issued a patent for the Acoustic Ramp diffuser that I came up with while I was at UML’s doing my SRT Master’s.
Larry Clawson’s new XMix studio construction is nearly completed.I designed the control room as a mastering studio first and production studio second. The room sounds great!
While working many jobs to pay for this glorious education, I’ve been spending as much time behind the kit becoming a better musician as possible. I’ve had my go at location sound for TV/Film/Commercials, post production sound for the same, recording/live broadcast engineer for largest comedy podcast network in the world (built the system they’re currently using today). I’ve also toured the world as a drummer, and am currently building a recording studio where I record, edit, and mix all my bands music, and hopefully turn it into a profitable studio in the future.
