Biography
After 20+ totally enjoyable years doing audio, sound design and studio management, I shifted gears to librarianship (with motherhood sandwiched in between!). Focused library studies on digitization and preservation, but the winds of change pointed me toward the ebook space. For the last several years I’ve been employed at EBSCO Information Services, provider of library databases, and am among the leadership team in the eBook production division. I spend lots of time dealing with metadata and format specs, so even though the medium and genre are different, I tap into my audio experiences on an almost daily basis – they’ve served me well!

Biography
At Nuance, I am responsible for our engineering team in the greater Detroit area. Much of my daily work involves our SSE (speech signal enhancement) line of products for automotive customers. I tune and test customer implementations, help roll out new algorithms/products and provide resident support for Tier-1′s and OEMs. I also build many of our test tools (Python, C++) and do a lot of sales support (customer demos/evals). I love my job — and am always looking for SRT people for our expanding team!
Notes
A majority of new automobiles today will have a Nuance product inside (handsfree kit, speech recognition, text-to-speech, offboard services), and most of the tuning for the North American product lines is done by me here in “the D” (including Chrysler, Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Harman, Bosch, Delphi, Panasonic, Pioneer, FTen…)
